Small Faces – Tin Soldier

January 31, 2009

I,ve always liked a lot of mod stuff I was always Jealous of the older guys that had scooters and stuff when I was 11 or 12 all I got was a fred perry and a pair of Stapress.By the time I was old enough to get one everybody was into Pringles and Fila trackies. The Fickle world of street fashion I suppose.

The Small Faces are excellent I am going through a phase of listening to a lot of early British stuff.Youtube is great for finding things its like a time machine.

Frost/Nixon

There are not many films you come out of and Say “That was brilliant”but that is what the consensus was when we all came out of this film.I loved it,the acting was superb,You even started to feel sympathy for old Tricky Dickie.I would watch it again, there is great dialogue between the characters. The guy who play,s Frost played Tony Blair in The Queen he does a great job and the man who played Nixon is fantastic definitely oscar performances.I never realised it was a stage play but it has that feel to it,I would like to go and see that too.

We had great Mexican food after the movie also.

Bargarran

It,s funny I was reminiscing with someone recently he didn,t remember me but thats alright, but it actually made me quite nostalgic for the old place that I grew up in.Some people thought it was rough and unsophisticated but there were a lot of good people who lived there  and still do.I took my wife Sarah through the shopping centre once and she thought it was a bit as Americans say ghetto, but its different when you know everyone in a place and they all know you,Anyway I found a few photographs of the place for your enjoyment.I really enjoy having this wee blog.

Defiance

January 27, 2009

Just went to see this film this afternoon. It was good,it was what I expected.Good action adventure of a band of Jewish resistance fighters fighting the nazis in Belarus. It is based on a true story. If you fancy a good action, war movie this is for you.

I also watched a couple of DVDs recently that are worth mentioning firstly Burn After Reading with Brad Pitt and George Clooney. It is a Coen brothers movie, they did Fargo. It is an enjoyable film.

The Duchess with Ralph Fiennes and Kiera Knightley is a good historical drama worth watching, well more of a women,s movie really but still enjoyable.

Until our next movie review good night.

Burns Night

January 24, 2009

I have always enjoyed Burn,s Night I have been to a few Burns Suppers when I lived back in Scotland and I always had a good time.I even really like Haggis which many Americans can,t understand.I was thinking though I wonder if Rabbie Burns will be our national Bard in say 200yrs.I think it may well be this man.
